Our First Junior Member Earns Mayflower Descendant Status!

Our newest member, Matilda Lea penned these words just prior to her recent birthday...

Dear Mayflower Descendant Members,

My name is Matilda Lea, a descendent of George Soule and the Second Granddaughter of

Orel Lea who sadly passed away May of 2023. She is dearly missed but her love for this

society will be carried through myself, other family members such as Kylie Moore, Quentin

Lea, Olivia Lea and all other descendants. I graduated from St Clare’s College, Waverley, N.S.W. in 2023, I’m currently working full-time in the family Real Estate company, making myself the third generation to work within the agency. On top of that I am completing my Certificate IV in Real Estate, through a company called REINSW. Through REINSW I am able to complete the course online and at my own pace, which complements working full-time. I have enjoyed being part of the junior members of the Australian Society of Mayflower Descendants, but as my 19th birthday approaches, I am pleased to announce that I will be the very first of the Junior members to become an adult member. I am beyond excited and look forward to the change.

I’ve decided it was time to make some more history within this historic society. I also wanted

to be a guide for when the other junior members are of age and for the many more

generations to come. My favourite quote to which I remind myself of everyday, “Leaders

become great not because of their power, but because of their ability to empower others”.

This prompted me to make the move to inspire the younger generations within the society,

including my little sister Olivia. Olivia will be 15 at the end of this year. She enjoys her

studies, sports and music.

I am very excited to embark on this journey and look forward to meeting you all. I hope you

are all well and have a good day.

Regards,

Matilda.
